Karina found her passion for cultural exchange upon starting her career at Meridian International Center, first as an intern in Development, next as a Program Associate, and now as an Associate Program Officer in the Professional Exchanges Division. Her multicultural upbringing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates drove her to move to Washington, DC and study International Affairs at the George Washington University’s Elliott School, where she received her B.A. with a dual concentration in Conflict and Security, and Europe. Karina also studied French throughout college, completing a semester abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. In addition to working at Meridian, Karina has been a volunteer mentor with Streetwise Partners, has pursued Arabic language study – participating in an Arabic language immersion program in 2009 with Middlebury College – and is currently an M.S. Candidate at George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
