Nafisa has a B.A. in History, with a concentration in Political Science and International Studies, from Davidson College. She is also a volunteer Arts and Culture Programming Coordinator at the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) in Washington, DC. She previously worked as a litigation paralegal at Shearman and Sterling LLP in New York City and also assisted with logistical coordination of IMAN performance showcases at venues such as the Apollo Theater in Harlem. During college, Nafisa studied abroad in Cambridge, England and India. She also worked as an Intern at the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, where she served as a translator and guide to interns and foreign visitors on behalf of the International Programming Office, while researching the role of Islamic law in economic development and social reform. She is fluent in Bengali and is conversational in Spanish and Hindi/Urdu.
