Mexican Report: Contemporary Art from Mexico

February 24 – April 17, 2005

A new exhibition entitled Mexican Report: Contemporary Art from Mexico will open in February 2005 and be on view at three different Washington, DC venues: Meridian International Center, The Cultural Institute of Mexico, and the Curator's Office Gallery. This exhibit includes over 100 pictures, sculptures, engravings, installations and videos from more than 50 Mexican and foreign artists living in Mexico. Many of the pieces were created specifically for this exhibition. Meridian International Center and The Cultural Institute of Mexico will open to the public on February 24 and will display inanimate art through April 22. The Curator's Office Gallery will present the exhibition's videos between February 26 and March 26.

Mexican Report is organized by the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Washington, D.C in collaboration with the Meridian International Center and the Curators Office Gallery. The exhibit has been possible thanks to the support of the Secretariat of External Affaires of Mexico (SRE), the National Council for the Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA), the National Institute of Arts (INBA), the Instituto de México of San Antonio, Blue Star and the Southwestern Bell Company (SBC).

A roundtable discussion will take place on March 3, 2005, at 6:30 pm at the Cultural Institute of Mexico, on the works of the exhibit and Mexican contemporary art, with the participation of Milena Malinowska (Hirshorn Museum), Andrea Pollan (Curator's Office), Santiago Espinosa de los Monteros (Exhibit's Curator) and Anthony Harvey (Art Critic).
